Before Bill Shatner's hair started to go...
A commenter at the blog "More Shat, Less Shame" (which seems almost entirely dedicated towards sexual lust directed at Bill Shatner - and let's be fair, that's no less crazy an idea than a blog entirely dedicated to Shatner's hair!) has posted some early pictures of Shats. The postee writes that images are mainly from a Biography Channel special on Shatner (which can be bought here). What the pictures show is that Shats started off with a very thick head of hair, thus the resulting severe thinning in his late twenties must have been a very painful experience, particularly for someone who wanted so badly to be a movie star. A description of those emotions might have made for a particularly compelling chapter in Bill Shatner's autobiography Up Till Now - but alas, that wasn't to be. More pictures here.
I've always found women who openly lusted after Capt. Kirk to be hilarious. They've got such low standards...
ReplyDeleteBut we're not lusting after Capt. Kirk. We're lusting after Bill Shatner. And we do know there's a difference.
ReplyDeleteLow standards? Excuse me. He was A STARSHIP CAPTAIN.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you've read the issue of the Star Trek magazine, with Kate Mulgrew on the cover, there's an article on how Captain Kirk's seemingly "womanizing" ways may not be "womanizing after all" - apart from a few episodes where he genuinely kisses a girl, he was either A)Forcefully manipulated by an alien to do so or B)doing it for the sake of the Enterprise (i.e., she could have been an enemy and he wanted to find out some secrets he could use to save the Enterprise).
Don't judge.
IDK what kind of standards you've got, but I simply think he's damn fine.

A bit dumb argument as whoever writes this blog clearly is a pretty big Shatner fan.
Hi. As a mod over at more_shatner, I am deeply sorry that remarks made there have offended. As you know, "More Shat, Less Shame" is not a blog kept by a single entity, but a community of people who like and appreciate Shatner for different reasons, many of whom (including myself) enjoy your blog as well. As mod, I have asked that people restrict conversation to Shatner himself, and I hope that we can work this out amicably. "Almost entirely dedicated towards sexual lust" does not describe my intentions or involvement any more than the member's comments describe anyone's here, and while I do not claim both remarks have equivalency, for my part we're in the same business. Which is the appreciation of Shatner and his various forms and foibles.
ReplyDeleteAgain, I regret any unpleasantness and I am dedicated to working this out. I'm here for the fun, which is also why I created that community. I'm sorry that it has become something else.
I'd like to take this opportunity to say that I agree with the lovely my_daroga, above. I love Shatner. I think he's a damn fine actor, and I think he's hot. I'm a member of more_shatner.
ReplyDeleteAnd I also enjoy this blog about his hair. So, you know. It's all good. Please let it all be good?
The women who openly lust after Captain James T. Kirk are some of the loveliest women in all the galaxy.
ReplyDeleteI am the person who wrote the original post over at More Shat, Less Shame. It wasn't meant as an ATTACK--really the wrong choice of words.
ReplyDeleteMy post was more annoyed + amused more than anything else. Yes, I was making fun of the blog here, but I have a stupid sense of humor but never meant to hurt anyone or cause drama. I also wrote a retraction to help clear the air, and I do not want my actions to reflect badly on those who are also part of More Shat, Less Shame.
We ARE a nice group of Shat fans regardless of my individual actions, I swear. We ARE crazy, but usually it's in the best possible way. I am sorry.
The end. I hope.

Excuse me? Bill Shatner was a gorgeous young man. Maybe you shallow men dont get that we women dont judge that harshly by looks if a guy has to wear a rug or not.
ReplyDeleteOf course women judge harshly. There wouldn't be large markets for hair transplants, Rogaine, toupees, hair dye, etc. if what you say were true. You are deluded.
ReplyDeleteso bill did have, loads of hair, i would guess that the last photo, of the young shat, was taken about 1952-3, he had thick hair then! Poor bill, only around 5 years later, he was running for a toupee, even the 56-58 combover, never made his hair, anywhere near as thick, as it once was. Pity for him, if you wear a toupee, as much as you would love, to hide it, you get caught out, in the end.
ReplyDeleteIn that second picture, the future Captain Kirk seems to be packing an unusually large phaser. I wonder that if in addition to the toop and the girdle, he had to wear a specially constructed truss to house the Johnson (for propriety's sake), like another legend, Frank Sinatra.
