Toup on toup.
There is a story that has circulated among some Star Trek fans that in the second season episode "The Deadly Years" (in which some members of the crew, including Captain Kirk, rapidly age - see above) Shatner wore an "old age" white-haired toup on top of his regular toupee. We are convinced that that story is simply not true - for the makeup department to do something like that would simply be ridiculous and totally pointless.
But we have found one such example that can be confirmed. Not sure what the above picture is, but we believe it is from an episode of Boston Legal (fans of the show, please help us out if you can). What we see is a toupee that is fake and supposed to be fake on top of a toupee (or plugs) that are fake but are supposed to be real. Shats should avoid such mind-bending stunts as they threaten the very fabric of the space-time continuum!
Good tip- have you taken a look at the 4th movie lately? In the scene where Shatner's underwater his bald spot is painfully obvious. Also when he's in the water with everybody else.
ReplyDeleteMay I say that this is the most delightful blog I have discovered in many a moon. It's informative without being cruel, and there's genuine affection for Mr. Shatner. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI love this blog, By the way, I was just watching Star Trek OS yesterday. In the episode The Cloud Minders (season 3), you can spot Kirk´s toupee "falling apart" in a fight scene, right at the beggining of the film.
ReplyDeleteTo clear things up, the toup on toup pic above is from Boston Legal. The pic from Outlier Toupees with Shat wearing red and black is from Show Me the Money.
