An interesting outlier, although we don't know the date when this picture was taken - circa 1998 we would guess. It does appear that Bill Shatner was quite clever in his transition from curly weave (1976-2000) to plugs (2000-). Rather than the sudden shock of a completely new style, there was a slow transition phase in which the curly toups were gradually adjusted to resemble the straight-haired plug look before the latter was finally revealed. As some of you have pointed out, for a while at least, the toup would have covered the surgical work going on underneath. Who knows how long that took or when the actual decision was made to ditch the toupees for good? There is much more to explore on this subject...
