The Toupee in the Dark.
A rare image of Bill Shatner touching his hair in a somewhat Vulcan-esque manner. Normally, Shats has great difficulty in giving the Vulcan "Live Long and Prosper" sign - his fingers just won't budge into place. But in this case, he seems to be having no problems. Or perhaps he is attempting a Spock-like mind-meld with the hairpiece in an effort to gain a greater understanding of its powers...Was this the moment where Shats learned that the toupee was acting as it was merely to protect his last surviving unborn hair follicles?
On a separate note, a reader writes: "Shat's toup was mentioned by Harlan Ellison in his story 'How's the Nightlife on Cissalda?' "
If anyone has that story and would be willing to scan in or transcribe the relevant passage, we would be eternally grateful. Thanks!
